Information tools are listed as one of the basic type of tools of public policy together with legal and economic tools. However, in contrast to the legal and partly also economic tools, only a relatively small amount of attention is paid to information tools and various individual tools are included more or less randomly. The study expands the overall range of information tools used by the state or public administration and also on information tools from the market environment and civil society. This extended and open set of tools is then divided in the study according to the
functions they perform, into information tools of a general information nature (eg awareness campaigns, public debates), regulatory nature (quotas, charts, etc.), registration nature (identification numbers, certificates, diplomas, etc.) and additional or voluntary nature (rankings, ratings, surveys, etc.).

Keywords: public policy, information tools of public policy, types of information tools
